Course Overview

This course is aimed at those wishing to run their own floristry business or work in a supervisory role. You will cover a range of specialist technical practical skills and knowledge and explore European influences, techniques and new trends within the industry. This qualification could also be used for progression into teaching.

Topics may include:

  • Health and safety
  • Principles of creative design
  • Plant and flower care
  • Tied floral designs
  • Floral designs in a medium
  • Wired floral designs
  • Glued floral designs
  • Business management and marketing in floristry
  • Trends in the floristry industry
  • Event floristry

Modules are taught via demonstrations, lectures, tutorials and practical workshops.

Course materials costs could be up to £300 depending on your chosen supplier (these may be available to order via the College for your convenience especially for those in recepit of the Adult Learning Loan). Residential and field trips are optional.

Assessment Methods

You will attend College for one full day a week and will be expected to complete written assignment work in self-study time at home. During the course you will compile a portfolio of your work and will be assessed through coursework and practical assessments.

Progression Options

On successful completion of the course you may wish to progress to the Level 4 Higher Diploma and Level 5 Master Diploma in Floristry.

Entry Requirements

You need to have completed a Level 2 qualification in Floristry (or equivalent) at Merit grade with GCSE English and Maths. Entry is also subject to a successful interview.
