Hi, I’m Dmitrijs, and I’m studying Electrical Installation. What I enjoy most about the course is how hands-on it is. We spend a lot of time in the workshop rather than focusing on theory, and I really prefer this practical style of learning because it suits me perfectly.
In the workshop, we learn to use various tools and equipment, and if I ever need help, the teachers are always there to assist. They support us and show us how to use tools safely and correctly. Since most of our work is done solo on the job, having that confidence to step up and trust what you can do is essential.
I am hoping to gain a placement at Hinkley Point C. I think gaining work experience will make me more confident in my skills, and once I’ve done placements, I believe I’ll be able to do tasks instinctively. Building a career in electrical work has always been part of my plan, and college is helping me take the steps toward this goal.
Since I started college, I’ve gained the practical skills and confidence I need to succeed in this trade. I’m excited about my future in the industry and confident that I’m on the right track.
