At Cannington College, we are very proud to share with you information about our wonderful, experienced team.
Jason Kilduff is Principal of Cannington College and brings more than 29 years’ experience in Further Education.
Beginning his career as an automotive apprentice at Bridgwater College, he went on to hold senior curriculum and leadership roles, including Head of Automotive and a position on the Senior Management Team. Jason played a key role in expanding Engineering, Nuclear, Construction and Civil Engineering provision, supporting workforce development for Hinkley Point C and investment in the National College for Nuclear at Cannington.
He currently sits on the National College for Nuclear and Clean Energy board. As Principal, he is focused on strengthening land-based education and developing curriculum linked to clean energy, conservation, sustainable farming and future workforce needs.
Lorna Whitford is the Assistant Principal for Group Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Support, based at Cannington College as part of the UCS College Group. She provides strategic leadership for Foundation Learning, SEND and high needs provision, overseeing this work across all four colleges in the Group. Her focus is on ensuring that every learner is met with high expectations, the right support and a collaborative approach.
In November 2024, the high needs area received an Outstanding judgement from Ofsted. Lorna is proud to have contributed to this outcome as part of a committed team, and of the culture of clarity, shared responsibility and ambition for learners with additional needs that was recognised through the inspection.
Guided by a vision for inclusive learning, quality first teaching and collaborative working, Lorna works with colleagues across the UCS College Group to shape Foundation Learning and ALS as provision that is aspirational and supportive. Together, the team are ensuring learners are encouraged to build confidence, independence and the skills they need for their next steps.
