I’m Oleksandr, and I’m currently studying an ESOL course here at Taunton College. I really enjoy the course because it helps me improve my English and learn Maths, which are important for my future plans. After completing this course, I want to enrol in a mechanic course because I love cars. This passion comes from my grandfather and father in my home country, and I also enjoy working on cars myself.
Learning English has been very helpful for me in everyday life. For example, when I go to the shop or take my car to the garage, I can explain what’s wrong with it, whether it’s the clutch or the foot brake. Being able to communicate that clearly makes a big difference.
Since starting college, I’ve made many friends from different countries, including Sudan, Africa, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. I enjoy meeting people from diverse backgrounds as it makes the experience richer and more interesting. Living in the UK has been a positive experience for me. I feel free here and can sleep well at night.
In my home country, I faced some difficulties, especially because of the war, but in the UK, I receive support, like a place to live and help with my situation. Some people say the weather isn’t always great here, but I don’t find it a problem. Today’s a sunny day, and it’s really nice.
I really like the college because it’s a welcoming place where I can relax and feel comfortable. The staff and teachers are very friendly and supportive. If I ever have any problems with my learning or even personal issues, they are always there to chat and help me out.
