Course Overview

This 10 day course is for people with limited or no experience of excavating, who want to gain entry into the lifting industry.

If you already have experience but need a formal qualification, you could do our condensed 5 day or 2 day course On passing the technical tests, we will apply for the CPCS trained operator card (red card) on your behalf.

On this course covers:

  • Operate the excavator 360° tracked safely and productively
  • Fit and operate ancillary equipment
  • Site the machine safely and efficiently
  • Carry out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures
  • Understand the capabilities, purposes and limitations of each machine
  • Follow all necessary safety precautions
  • Interpret the information provided by level pegs and profiles
  • Be aware of the necessary routine adjustments and service procedures, and carry them out
  • Work to levels with the aid of laser equipment.

Assessment Methods

  • Theory Test a professional discussion carried out on a one-to-one basis with the CPCS tester.
  • You must pass this test in order to take the practical test.
  • Practical Test.

Progression Options

Once you have your red CPCS trained operator card, you have two years to register for and complete your NVQ Plant Operations 360 Excavator. When this is completed you will be able to apply for a Blue CPCS Competent Operator card.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have passed your Health Safety and Environment test within the last two years. Good understanding of spoken and written English.
