Course Overview

This apprenticeship would suit anyone interested in being a custodian of our rural outdoor scenery. Working to conserve the environment that makes the English countryside both distinctive and special, whilst taking care of our protected landscapes.

  • Water Level Management
  • Site furniture and infrastructure
  • Drainage
  • Vehicles

Optional Pathway Duties:

  • Unit 13 (PATHWAY) Managing Assets and Major Incidents
  • Unit 14 (PATHWAY) Working with Volunteers
  • Unit 15 (PATHWAY) Heritage Assets
  • Unit 16 (PATHWAY) Water Level Management

Working in the outdoors looking after some of our most amazing waterways, rivers and lakes whilst caring for the habitats and species found there make this an incredibly rewarding apprenticeship programme. Tuition and guidance from assessors with over 40 years industry experience who have a passion for learning and our water environments.

Assessment Methods

Assessment will take place throughout your course, including online courses, learning journals to record practical skills, project work, and review visits with assessors.

Progression Options

You could progress to higher level qualifications in ecology, environmental science, water management, countryside management and a host of roles with a variety of organisations such as the Environment Agency or National Trust.

Entry Requirements

You will need a English and Maths GCSE at 4 or above, or equivalent.

Please note: this apprenticeship has fixed intake dates in October, March, and July.
