Cannington College was proud to host the prestigious “Trees on Tour” event delivered by Barcham Trees, one of only a small number of events held annually at renowned venues including Sandringham Estate and Windsor Great Park
The event brought together leading arboriculture professionals to share their expertise on key topics including tree establishment, species selection, planting techniques, and the latest issues surrounding pests and diseases. Representatives from the Arboriculture Association also delivered an insightful session on the future of the industry and the increasing importance of arboriculture awareness.
Hosting the event provided an excellent opportunity for students to engage directly with industry experts, gain valuable insight into the sector, and explore the wide range of career pathways available within arboriculture.
This was part of a series of away days that we hold around the country, away from the nursery, talking all things trees – hence the name ‘Trees on Tour’.
Whilst at Cannington, we have been speaking with the gardening staff, arboriculture team, students, and tree professionals from the local area. We had some really engaging talks on tree pests and diseases, conifers, tree establishment, and site selection – a variety of topics that are constantly evolving and are highly relevant within the industry.
The weather has been fantastic and, after lunch, we enjoyed a tree walk through the Walled Gardens at Cannington, looking at some fabulous trees and discussing species that will be well suited for future planting as the climate continues to change.
The college was delighted to welcome such respected figures from across the industry and to strengthen links between education and professional practice through this successful event.
