Course Overview

Senior production chefs strive to consistently produce meals to perfection according to predetermined specifications. They have the ability to work independently and lead a team in often hot and highly challenging kitchen environments.

Topics may include:

  • Kitchen operations
  • Nutrition
  • Legal and governance
  • People
  • Business / Commercial.

Production chefs and their teams work quickly and efficiently, producing food often in high volumes day after day, requiring energy, highly methodical organisational skills and attention to detail. In a real working environment, you learn and hone your skills as a Senior Chef with one-to-one support from a specialist trainer and workplace mentor, all while earning a wage.

Please note: workshops for this programme are delivered at Taunton College.

Assessment Methods

Assessment will take place throughout the course, including online courses, learning journals to record practical skills, project work, and review visits with assessors.

Progression Options

On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you could find employment in a kitchen or catering manager role.

Entry Requirements

You will need English Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE grade 4 or above, and Mathematics Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE grade 4 or above.
