Course Overview

This course, formerly known as CS30, provides you with a thorough understanding of chainsaw maintenance and safe operation as well as the cross-cutting of timber. It is delivered through both practical and theory sessions and you should be familiar with the machinery, equipment and tools that you are going to use.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is through theory and practical assessment with criteria carried out by an Approved Assessor.

Progression Options

This course is a pre-requisite to the following courses:

  • Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm Level 2 (formerly CS31)
  • Felling and Processing Trees over 380mm Level 3 (formerly CS32)
  • Aerial Cutting of Trees with a Chainsaw using Freefall Technique (formerly CS39).

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements, although you must be 16 years old or over to do this course.
